Modernist self-build - Completed fireplace

The new walkaround fireplace was rebuilt with a 200mm (8") Isokern Pumice Liner System and an external air source to supply the woodburner, due to the air tightness of the house. The original intention was to install a double sided Spartherm Varia AS FDh woodburner, however as time went by the idea became less appealing due to the negative perceptions of woodburning so we decided to look at other options, like eco-friendly bioethanol.

For the ethanol burner we decided on a linear 790mm Planika FLA3 XL (with additional expansion tank) which was supplied by Bioethanol Fires. It's Wi-Fi-enabled, has a 15.5 litre capacity and outputs 3-7kw with up to 30h continuous burn depending on the flame height.

The hearth was supplied by Fireplaces South West, which is 30mm honed slate with micro chamfered edges and a central cut-out to install the ethanol burner and XL expansion tank.
